The Sowams Heritage Area planning team has completed the final draft feasibility study to assess the viability of designating Sowams as a National Heritage Area (NHA). Representing more than three years of comprehensive research and community participation, the study is now ready for public comment.

Come hear the findings of the study and share your feedback at the final Community Conversation on Thursday, March 19th at 5pm at the meeting house of the historic Newman Church, 100 Newman Avenue, RI. If you represent one of the many heritage organizations in Sowams, please bring your brochures for display at the event!

The public comment period runs from February 15 through March 20, 2026. For those who cannot attend, feel free to send us your feedback.
